Vocational Guidance Services Skills Training programs give individuals the tools they need to gain employment. Hands-on training and work experience in computer, custodial, building maintenance, and textile services provide consumers with marketable skills to take with them into the workforce.

Basics of Bookkeeping and Accounting Training provides individuals with knowledge of Windows and Office applications with the software skills needed for employment in bookkeeping/accounting for small businesses. Students enrolled in this four-week program receive training in bookkeeping terminology, accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, business forms, banking, and reports as well as an introduction to QuickBooks.  Please contact us at rehab@vgsjob.org for more information.

Building Maintenance Skills Provides 12 weeks of training in proper building maintenance methods to prepare  consumers for entry-level building maintenance positions. Routine day-to-day maintenance responsibilities are covered as well as emergency maintenance, protective maintenance, and safety procedures with chemicals, tools, and other equipment. Plumbing, electricity, heating, air conditioning, painting, drywall, basic carpentry and troubleshooting are covered and the program length can be adjusted to fit individual needs, skills, and experience.

Customer Service Certification Training provides training in the basic skills required to deliver effective customer service in any business environment. Participants gain an understanding of the processes, procedures, and tools used in a customer service call center while building skills in computer literacy, business writing, and business Internet usage. Computer Skills Training offers individualized computer instruction designed to enhance employability in an office setting. The variable program length allows students to choose which applications to pursue for certification as well as additional areas of focus within which they wish to develop greater skill. Students choosing a four-week program will focus on a single Microsoft Office product (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access or Outlook), while those enrolling in the eight- to twelve-week program are able to pursue MOS certification in two or more Microsoft Office products.

Training includes both self-paced and instructor-led periods and enables participants to build skills in the applications chosen in preparation for MOS certification testing at the CORE level. Training in administrative support skills such as proofreading, business writing, data entry, professional telephone skills, and filing  is also offered.  Please contact us at rehab@vgsjob.org for more information.

Forklift Training is a comprehensive, week-long program including assessment, field observation, nationally recognized core technical training, job readiness, and more. HVAC Training familiarizes individuals with important terminology, safety, proper equipment, current EPA laws, and basic skills necessary for gaining employment in an assistant/apprenticeship role and provides an important introduction for those who wish to pursue advanced training in the HVAC field.
