Foster Families

Supplies

When divorce hit my family I was an old dog left with few options.  A foster family with Under the Wing took me and now I am living the high life again!

When Under the Wing rescued me, I felt so sick.  I was barely able to walk, had a bad infection caused by advanced tooth decay, was underweight and lethargic.  Under the Wing got the surgery I needed to feel better, my vaccinations and a neuter. My medical expenses alone cost nearly $500.00 even with the discounts The Family Pet Clinic and the Euclid Veterinary Hospital gave me.

Being a foster family is a wonderful experience.  By fostering for Under the Wing, I get to experience a variety of different animals, have a lot of fun, and know I'm making a difference.  It is hard when the animals move on to their forever homes, but the sadness doesn't last as long as you might think since I know care has been taken in selecting their new families.  I even get updates on most of the animals I've fostered!  -  Beth UTW Foster Mom

Becoming a Under the Wing Foster Family is a great way to make a difference in the life of an animal in need.  All expenses are paid and lots of support is available!

Under the Wing relies completely on donations of money, professional services and our own fundraising.  As more animals make their way to our programs it gets more and more challenging to provide them with everything they need.

Foster Facilities

As Cisco the macaw might tell you (if he's in the mood) Under the Wing is nearly always in need of supplies.  No gift is too small - or too big!

I got lucky and went to prison! For some reason my family moved away and left me behind.  After that I spent a lot of time alone and really needed to get used to being with people again.  Some great women take care of me and make me feel safe.

Some of our most fortunate animals get to go to prison!  I know that sounds strange, but it couldn't be more true.  As part of the rehabilitation process for some carefully screened inmates, a local correctional facility provides foster space for some of our animals.  In fact, many of the animals fostered at their facility are so happy there that they can't wait to return after medical or community appointments!

Under the Wing Vice President Melanie GiaMaria has years of experience working with institutional fostering.  Fostering is a great experience for correctional facilities, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.  Contact Melanie today to learn how fostering can benefit your organization.
