Customer Service Skills Training
Customer Service Skills Training is designed to provide individuals with the basic skills required to obtain entry-level employment in a customer service/call center environment.
The Customer Service Skills Training curriculum supports the development of skills applicable in any customer service/call center environment while also allowing individuals to build some skills specific to particular employers or industries.
Individuals participating in VGS’ Customer Skills Training program are trained to provide the highest quality of customer service. Individuals will gain an understanding of the processes, procedures, and tools found in any customer service/call center environment while building skills in computer literacy, business writing, word processing, and business Internet usage.
This program prepares individuals to take the Customer Support Specialist certification test
offered by the Help Desk Institute.
While developing professional customer service skills individuals learn effective communication techniques including listening skills, empathy, identifying customer needs, and demonstrating customer respect. On-line training sessions, video training, and role-playing supplement instructor-led sessions.
Individuals work independently to build skills with Microsoft Office Suite software and keyboarding throughout the program. The Customer Support Specialist focused curriculum is taught by a Help Desk Institute Certified Instructor.
While engaged in the training, individuals may choose to develop industry-specific skills using supplemental materials and curriculum developed with input from a number of area employers. Successful graduates of this program may seek employment in customer service/call center operations in a variety of fields, including transportation, banking,
insurance, healthcare, or manufacturing.
